Medical information
Important preparation, use and interpretation guidance.
Preparation
Rules for preparing for an Anti-CMV-IgG study No special training is required. It is recommended to take blood no earlier than 4 hours after the last meal.
When it is used
In which cases Anti-CMV-IgG analysis is performed: preparation for pregnancy; signs of intrauterine infection, fetoplacental insufficiency; the state of immunosuppression in HIV infection, neoplastic diseases, taking cytostatic drugs, etc.; the clinical picture of infectious mononucleosis in the absence of infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus; hepatosplenomegaly of unclear etiology; fever of unclear etiology; increased levels of hepatic transaminases, gamma-GT, and alkaline phosphatase in the absence of markers of viral hepatitis; atypical course of pneumonia in children; miscarriage of pregnancy (frozen pregnancy, habitual miscarriages).
Understanding results
The interpretation of the research results contains information for the attending physician and is not a diagnosis. The information in this section cannot be used for self-diagnosis and self-medication. An accurate diagnosis is made by a doctor using both the results of this examination and the necessary information from other sources: anamnesis, results of other examinations, etc. Units of measurement: Units/ml . Reference values: < 6 Units/ml. Interpretation of the results of the Anti-CMV-IgG study Increasing the values CMV infection. Intrauterine infection is possible, the probability of its occurrence is unknown. Within the reference values CMV infection has not been detected. The infection occurred during the previous 3-4 weeks. Intrauterine infection is not possible (except in cases of IgM presence). Doubtful A boundary value that does not reliably (with a probability of more than 95%) attribute the result to "positive" or "negative". It should be borne in mind that such a result is possible with a very low level of antibodies, which may occur, in particular, during the initial period of the disease. Depending on the clinical situation, it may be useful to re-examine the level of antibodies after 10-14 days to assess the dynamics. See also: No. 83 and a study on infections during pregnancy.
