Medical information

Important preparation, use and interpretation guidance.

Description

Radiography of the femur is usually performed in connection with injuries – first to confirm the diagnosis if a fracture is suspected, and after applying a cast – for control. As a rule, pictures are taken from two angles for a more accurate assessment of the condition of the bones. In oncology, this method is used as an additional one in order to identify pathological changes in bones and adjacent tissues.

When it is used

The X-ray image clearly shows all the bones of the pelvis, as well as both hip joints. The study allows you to detect fractures of the pelvic bones and femoral neck, assess the condition of the hip joint, and identify osteoporosis. In addition, abdominal wall hematomas can be seen on an X-ray of the pelvis. It is recommended to do an X-ray in the following cases: Radiography of bones and joints (skull, bones of the shoulder, forearm, foot, hand, femur, hip bone, etc.; temporomandibular, elbow, knee, wrist, hip joints, etc.): pain, crunch, blockage of movements, instability of the joint injuries (dislocations, fractures, sprains) suspicion of longitudinal flat feet diagnosis of growths, calcified areas, metastatic lesions, tumors
