Medical information

Description
X-ray of the foot with a load is performed to obtain information about the state of the osteoarticular apparatus of the feet. The procedure is prescribed to identify a variety of diseases, in particular, flat feet (both transverse and longitudinal). During the study, the body weight is transferred to the leg under study, so there is an increased load on the foot, and it takes on a characteristic walking shape. Since the image shows the shape of the foot, taking into account the effect of the patient's weight on it, the X-ray allows the doctor to detect flat feet and assess its degree.
When it is used
During the study, the patient stands on one leg, so pressure is exerted on the foot, and it takes the shape that is characteristic of it when walking. Since the image shows the shape of the foot, taking into account the influence of the patient's weight on it, an X-ray of the foot with a load allows the doctor to detect flat feet and accurately assess its degree. It is recommended to do an X-ray in the following cases: Radiography of bones and joints (skull, bones of the shoulder, forearm, foot, hand, femur, hip bone, etc.; temporomandibular, elbow, knee, wrist, hip joints, etc.): pain, crunch, blockage of movements, instability of the joint injuries (dislocations, fractures, sprains) suspicion of longitudinal flat feet diagnosis of growths, calcified areas, metastatic lesions, tumors
Important cautions
Contraindications Contraindications. Is it possible to do X-rays during pregnancy? There are no absolute contraindications. Pregnancy is a relative contraindication, especially in the first trimester. In case of emergency, an X-ray is performed at the direction of a doctor. During the procedure, the abdominal area is covered with a lead apron.
