Description
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain and cervical spine is a non—invasive diagnostic technique that uses a powerful magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the brain and cervical spine, including vertebrae, intervertebral discs, nerves and surrounding soft tissues. The study makes it possible to assess the condition of all brain structures (vessels and membranes, gray matter, skull bones, etc.), detect neoplasms (tumors, cysts, aneurysms), the effects of injuries, signs of inflammation or impaired cerebral circulation. To diagnose herniated discs, spinal canal stenosis, degenerative changes, tumors, inflammation and damage to the cervical spine as a result of injuries. The study is performed for adults and children from the age of 14. If it is necessary to introduce a contrast agent, the study is carried out only for adults (from the age of 18). The service is provided separately according to the Price List of the medical center.
When it is used
suspected neoplasms of the brain and meninges, cysts and tumor-like lesions of the brain, spine; congenital malformations of the brain and skull; vascular diseases of the brain; traumatic brain injury, injury of the cervical spine; chronic or acute neck pain, especially if it spreads to the hands or is accompanied by numbness, tingling or weakness in the extremities; intracranial neuroinfection; toxic and metabolic encephalopathies; demyelinating and neurodegenerative diseases of the central nervous system (multiple sclerosis, etc.); suspected herniated discs, dislocated vertebral discs, spinal canal stenosis; assessment of structural abnormalities of the spine, degenerative changes or diseases such as osteochondrosis; preparation for surgery, postoperative control.
Important cautions
within 4 months after the installation of shunts and stents in blood vessels (regardless of location: head, arm, leg, etc.), cava filters and most of the artificial heart valves; pregnancy (up to 15 weeks) if the risk exceeds the benefit; the presence of a metallic foreign body of the eye; the presence of metal shrapnel, bullets in the body; an electric, magnetic, or mechanical activated implant (for example, a pacemaker, an insulin pump biostimulator, a neurostimulator, a cochlear implant, hearing aids); other implants responsible for life support; intracranial (intracranial) aneurysmal clips (except titanium); the presence of ferromagnetic surgical clamps or staples, metal plates. The presence of implants inside the body may be a contraindication to MRI. It is necessary to have an implant passport or permission from the attending physician for magnetic resonance imaging.
